ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING SECTION
5.76.150 OF THE SAN BERNARDINO MUNICIPAL CODE, AND ESTABLISHING
NEW MINIMUM AMOUNTS OF LIABILITY OF $100,000, $300,000 AND
$50,000 REQUIRED FOR TAXICAB OPERATION.

THE ~~YOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
5 DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Section 5.76.150 of the San Bernardino Municipa
7
Code is amended to read as follows:

"Each taxicab carrier and owner of a taxicab or vehicle
9
used in the transportation of passengers for hire shall maintain,
10
whenever he may be engaged in conducting such operations, ability
11
to respond in damages resulting from the ownership or operation
12
of the taxicab or vehicle and arising by reason of personal
13
i injury to, or death of, anyone person, of at least
$100,000
14
and, subject to the limit of $100,000 for each person injured
15
or killed, of at least $300,000 for such injury to, or the death
16
of, two or more persons in anyone accident, and for damages to
17
property of at least $50,000 resulting from anyone accident.
18
The minimum limits of the foregoing ability to respond in damages
19
shall be maintained or increased to conform with Vehicle Code
20
Section 16500. Ability to respond in damages may be maintained
21
by either of the alternatives set forth in said section 16500.
