2 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO A!1ENDING SECTION
19.60.040 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE AND ADDING SECTION 19.60.045
3 TO THE MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE CLARIFICATION OF PROVISIONS
GOVERNING IDENTIFICATION SIGNS IN R DISTRICTS AND AUTHORIZING
4 PUBLIC AND MUNICIPAL SIGNS IN R DISTRICTS SUBJECT TO CONDITIONS.
5 THE MAYOR AND CO~n10N COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Section 19.60.040 of the San Bernardino
7
Municipal Code is amended to read:

"19.60.040 Churches, schools, institutions, clubs and
9
hospitals in R districts.
10
Identification signs for churches, schools, institutions,
11
clubs and hospitals in R residential districts may be permitted
]2
subject to the approval of the planning commission."

SECTION 2. Section 19.60.045 is added to the San Bernar-
14
dino Municipal Code as follows:

"19.60.045 Public and municipal purpose signs in R districts
16
The Mayor and Common Council may authorize, subject to
17
conditions, the erection of a limited number of public and
18
municipal purpose signs not to exceed six square feet in size at
19
designated locations in R residential districts for stated periods
20
of time, and thereafter such signs can be erected without complian e
21
with permit or other requirements of other provisions of this c.ode
22
The public and municipal purpose nature of the sign shall conform
23
to the legal meaning of the term 'public and municipal purpose' .
24
Public and municipal purpose signs shall be limited to the
25
following kinds of signs:

A. Burglary and crime prevention."
