2 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO A'1ENDING SECTION
18.40.160 OF THE SAN BERNARDINO MUNICIPAL CODE, AND PROVIDING THAT
3 UNDER CERTAIN SPECIFIED CIRCUMSTANCES THE PLANNING CO~1ISSION AND
THE MAYOR AND COc~10N COUNCIL cffiY WAIVE THE REQUIREMENT FOR TWO
4 ACCESS ROUTES UPON A FINDING THAT THE PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY AND
WELFARE ARE NOT ENDANGERED BY THE WAIVER.

THE ~~YOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
6 DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Section 18.40.160 of the San Bernardino Municipa
8 Code is amended to read:

"18.40.160 Provision for ingress and egress.

A tentative map, final map, tentative parcel map or parcel
11 map, shall provide for at least two different rout_es for ingress
12 and egress. Such routes shall permit accessibility of fire
13 fighting and other public equipment, and shall permit orderly
14 emergency evacuation. Upon a finding that the public health,
15
safety and welfare are not endangered by the waiver, the commissio
16
or the mayor and council may waive the requirement for two access
17
routes, in either of the following circumstances:
18
1. The property is outside the high fire hazard area; or
19
2. An existing street provides only one route for ingress
and egress, not more than 2000 feet of street extension is re-
quired, and the parcel map creates not more than two residential
lots, one of which the applicant represents will be occupied as
his primary place of residence."
