2 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING CHAPTER 6.24
OF THE SAN BERNARDINO MUNICIPAL CODE, INCREASING ANI~ffiL LICENSE
3 AND SHELTER FEES.

ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Section 6.24.030 Subsection A. of the San
7 Bernardino Municipal Code is amended to read:
8
"1-\. Each person owning, harboring or having custody or
9 control of a dog of the age of four months or more, within the
10 City, shall obtain annually a license and tag for the dog on
lor before the first day of July of each. The license and tag fee
11
12 for each fiscal year shall be five dollars for a neutered dog and
13 twelve dollars for a dog which has not been neutered. License
14 and tag fees are payable in advance. I f the appropriate fee is
15 not paid prior to August first, a delinquency penalty of ten
16 dollars shall be added to the fee. A fee of one dollar shall be
17 charged for any additional tag issued to replace a lost, stolen,
18 misplaced or damaged tag. A fee of one dollar shall be charged
19 for the transfer of ownership of a licensed dog to a new owner in
20 lieu of a fee for a new license for the remainder of the year in
21 which the transfer occurs."

SECTION 2. Section 6.24.120 of the San Bernardino Municipal
23 Code is amened to read:

"6.24.120 Vicious or dangerous animal - Running at large -
25 Impoundment - Fees.
26 Each vicious or dangerous animal found running at large or
27 unrestrained shall be impounded by authorized employees of the
28 city for a period of seventy-two hours. The reclaiming fee fer

impounded animal shall be as follows:
first offense
fifteen dollars, plus three
dollars per day pound fee
second offense
thirty dollars, plus three
dollars per day pound fee
third and subsequent
offenses
fifteen dollars times the
total number of offenses which
have occurred, plus three
dollars per day pound fee.
8 If the owner or possessor of the animal does not claim the
9 animal and pay any sums due or owing during the seventy-two hours,
10 the animal shall be disposed of by authorized employees of the
11 city."

SECTION 3.
Section 6.24.140 of the San Bernardino Municipal
13 Code is amended to read:

"6.24.140 Running at large - Impoundment.
15 Any dog found running at large or unrestrained in the city
16 shall be impounded by the animal control officer for a period of
17
seventy-two hours.
The reclaiming fee for such impounded dog
18 shall be as follows:

The aniElal control officer may receive and dispose of

dogs delivered into his possession by the owner. He shall charge
the sum of seven dollars for each dog, and two dollars and fifty
cents for each puppy under the age of four months. If the owner
requests a pickup service, an additional fee of six dollars shall
be charged for transporting the dog or puppy. The animal control
officer may sell any dog or puppy voluntarily placed in his
possession for the sum of fifteen dollars, or for the sum of
twenty-five dollars if the dog or puppy is sold for research
purposes.
E. The animal control officer may receive and dispose of
dogs and cats delivered into his possession by their owners from
the territory of any municipality or county which contracts with
the city for animal control services. He shall charge such fees
as are agreed upon in the contract with the appropriate
municipality or county.
C. The animal control officer shall charge veterinarians
five dollars for pickup service for one animal, plus one dollar
for each additional animal."
SECTION 5. Section 6.24.160 of the San Bernardino Municipal
Code is amended to read:
"6.24.160 Disposal of cat or kitten.
The animal control officer may receive and dispose of any cat
or kitten delivered into his possession by the owner. He shall
charge the sum of two dollars and fifty cents for each cat or
kitten. If the owner requests a pickup service, an additional fee

f six dollars shall be charged for transporting the cat or
2 itten. The animal control officer may sell any cat or kitten
3 voluntarily placed in his possession for the sum of ten dollars,
4 or for the sum of fifteen dollars if the cat or kitten is sold for
5 research purposes."
