FIXING THE RATES OF TAXES FOR THE CURRENT YEAR. . ."; AND CHANGING THE PROPERTY TAX RATE UPON THE ASSESSED VALUE OF PROPERTY FROM .0194 TO .0044 DUE TO A NEW METHOD OF DETEID1INING ASSESSED VALUATION. (URGENCY) THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BE~~ARDINO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Ordinance No. MC-90 section 1 is amended to read: "SECTION 1. That there is hereby levied for the present fiscal year, beginning July 1, 1981, and ending June 30, 1982, on all property within the corporate limits of the City of San Bernar dino, a property tax of .0044 upon each one hundred dollars of the assessed value of such property as assessed by the County Assessor of the County of San Bernardino, as the same may be equalized and returned as herein provided; and the tax so levied and to be col- lected shall be applied to the payment of the principal and inter- est on the Fire System Bonds, 1962, Interest and Redemption Fund, due and to become due or to accrue during the said fiscal year. The 1962 Fire Bonds were approved by the electorate on February 6, 1962, in the total sum of $1,116,000.00. Bonds outstanding as of July 1, 1981, total $77,250.00, with principal of $75,000.00 and interest of $2,250.00 coming due in fiscal year 1981-1982." SECTION 2. It is hereby found, determined and declared that this ordinance is urgently required for the immediate preser- vat ion of the public peace, health, safety and welfare in that this ordinance is adopted pursuant to the provisions of Section 131 of the Charter of said City, and an Act of the Legislature of the State of California, Statutes of 1913 and subsequent amend- ments, by the provisions of which Act this ordinance must take effect before the first day of september, 1981, in order to levy MC-95 r > 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 JO 11 12 J3 14 15 ]6 17 ]8 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 any valid tax for municipal purposes, without which ordinance and tax there will be insufficient revenues or funds on hand to defray the expenses of said City. SECTION 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to immediatel transmit to the County Auditor of the County of San Bernardino a certified copy of this ordinance. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately after its passage and approval.
