Me-l27 2 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING TITLE 2 OF THE SAN BERNARDINO MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROVIDE THAT MEMBERS OF 3 VARIOUS BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS SHALL REMAIN A RESIDENT OF THE WARD FROM WHICH APPOINTED. 4 THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO DO 5 ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 6 SECTION 1. Section 2.20.020 Subsection C of the San 7 Bernardino Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: 8 "C. Each member of the commission, after having been 9 nominated, shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to the 10 approval of the Common Council. Each member shall be and remain a 11 local elector, and each member nominated by a Councilman shall be 12 la resident of the ward of such Councilman at the time of his 13 appointment and shall remain a resident of the ward during his 14 term of service. Subsequent vacancies shall be filled and 15 appointments shall be made in the manner hereinbefore set forth. 16 Each member shall serve without compensation." 17 SECTION 2. Section 2.22.020 Subsection B of the San 18 Bernardino Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: 19 "B. Each respective Councilman shall recommend to the Mayor 20 and the Mayor shall appoint, subject to the approval of the 21 Council, a commissioner who shall be a resident of such 22 Councilman's ward, and who shall remain a resident of such 23 Councilman's ward during his term of service, thus making a total 24 of seven commissioners so appointed." 25 SECTION 3. Section 2.26.030 of the San Bernardino Municipal 26 Code is amended to read as follows: 27 "2.26.030 Appointment - Residency requirement. 28 Each member of the commission, after having been nominated, MC-127 1 shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval of the 2 Common Council. Each member shall be and remain a local elector, 3 and each member nominated by a Councilman shall be a resident of 4 the ward of such Councilman at the time of his appointment, and 5 shall remain a resident of the ward during his term of service. 6 Subsequent vacancies shall be filled and appointments shall be 7 made in the manner hereinbefore set forth. Each member shall 8 serve without compensation." 9 SECTION 4. Section 2.32.030 of the San Bernardino Municipal 10 Code is amended to read as follows: ]1 "2.32.030 Members. ]2 The board shall consist of nine members. The board shall ]3 choose from its members a chairman. a vice-chairman, and a 14 secretary. The members shall be local electors; six shall be ]5 persons with substantial experience in fire control 16 administration, fire insurance, or fire control enforcement. Two 17 members shall be appointed by the Mayor. Seven members of the ]8 board shall be appointed by the Mayor upon the recommendation of ]9 each Councilman of a nominee who shall be a resident of his ward, 20 and shall remain a resident of the ward during his term of 21 service. The appointment of each member of the board shall be 22 subject to the approval of the Mayor and Common Council. All 23 successors shall be appointed to four-year terms or to complete 24 unexpired terms. Any member of the board may be discharged at any 25 time by the Council." 26 SECTION 5. Section 2.34.030 of the San Bernardino Municipal 27 Code is amended to read as follows: 28 "2.34.030 Members. -2- ~ Me-I27 1 The board shall consist of nine members. Each member shall 2 be a local elector. Two members of the Police Commission shall be 3 appointed by the Mayor. Seven members shall be appointed by the 4 Mayor upon the recommendation of each Councilman of a nominee who 5 shall be a resident of his ward, and shall remain a resident of 6 the ward during his term of service. The appointment of each 7 member of the Police Commission shall be subject to the approval 8 of the Mayor and Common Council. All successors shall be 9 appointed to four-year terms or to complete unexpired terms. Each 10 member of the board shall serve at the pleasure of the Council. IAt the first meeting of the board, they shall choose from their ,members a chairman, a vice-chairman and a secretary." 11 12 13 SECTION 6. Section 2.44.030 of the San Bernardino Municipal 14 Code is amended to read as follows: 15 "2.44.030 Cemetery commission - Appointment. 16 Two members of the commission shall be appointed by the 17 Mayor. Seven members of the commission shall be appointed by the 18 Mayor upon the recommendation of each Councilman of a nominee who 19 shall be a resident of his ward, and shall remain a resident of 20 the ward during his term of service. The appointment of each 21 member of the commission shall be subject to the approval of the 22 Mayor and Common Council. Such commissioners shall serve without 23 compensation except as provided in Section 2.44.050." 24 SECTION 7.
