2 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING CHAPTER
8.40 OF THE SAN BERNARDINO HUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO STREETS
3 ND CULS-DE-SAC TO PROVIDE THAT STREET CURVES SHALL BE DESIGNED IN
MANNER SATISFACTORY TO THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER
4 ND TO INCREASE THE HAXn1UH LENGTH OF CULS-DE-SAC TO FIVE HUNDRED

6 0 ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Section 18.40.100 Subsection B of the San
8 Bernardino Hunicipal Code is amended to read:

Street curves, including reverse curves, shall be
]0 designed in accordance with standards established by the Director
11 of Public Works/City Engineer."

SECTION 2.
Section 18.40.130 of the San Bernardino
13 Municipal Code is amended to read:

"18.40.130 The cul-de-sac shall be used only when required
15 for the proper subdivision of land. The general use in a subdivi-
16 sion shall be permitted only if the subdivider can establish, to
17 the satisfaction of the Commission, reasonable proof that designs
J8 prepared will produce a better living environment and that the
19 development of such a system of streets will not adversely affect
20 development of contiguous areas. Where a cul-de-sac is used,
21
it shall not have a length greater than five hundred feet and it
22
shall have a turn-around at its terminus with a radius of not
23
less than fifty feet for the right-of-way and not less than forty
24 feet for the paved area. The Commission and Mayor and Common
Council may approve cul-de-sac streets in excess of five hundred
25
26
feet and turn-arounds which vary from the above requirements,
27
provided that the deviation is substantiated by evidence and
28
findings applicable to variances as set forth in Chapter 18.60."
