HomeMy WebLinkAboutMC-196 ~ 1 HC-1.96 ORDINANCE NO. 2 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING CHAPTER 5.04 OF THE SAN BERNARDINO MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROVIDE FOR THE EXEMPTION FROM PAYMENT OF CERTAIN LICENSE FEES BY QUALIFIED VETERANS. } 4 THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 5 6 SECTION 1. Chapter 5.04 of the San Bernardino Municipal Code 7 is amended by adding Section 5.04.626 to read as follows: 8 "5.04.626 Exemption -- Veterans. 9 Every peddler, solicitor or other person claiming to be 10 entitled to exemption from the payment of any license fee provided 11 for in this Chapter upon the ground that he is an honorably ]2 discharged or released soldier, sailor or marine of the United ]3 States or Confederate States who is physically unable to obtain a 14 livelihood by manual labor and who shall be a qualified elector of ]5 the State or otherwise evidences residency within the State, as ] 6 provided in the laws of this State, shall, in addition to any ]7 other information required by this Chapter, file with the City ]8 Clerk's Office a certificate of a regularly licensed and ]9 practicing physician dated within a month of said application, to 20 the effect that said applicant is physically unable to obtain a 2] livelihood by manual labor, and stating the nature of said 22 incapacitation; verification that the applicant is an honorably 23 discharged veteran of the United States or Confederate States; and 24 verification that the applicant is a registered voter of this 25 State or otherwise evidences residency within the State. Upon 26 proof of the foregoing, the City Clerk shall issue without charge 27 a license to a qualified applicant to solicit, sell, hawk, peddle, 28 or vend his goods. Licensees under the provisions of this section MC-VJ6 , 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 ; shall be required to comply with all other provisions of this Chapter. Any license issued hereunder shall be personal to the veteran, and shall not authorize soliciting, selling, hawking, peddling or vending by an agent, employee or representative of the veteran. The license shall also be limited to hawking, peddling land vending goods and personally." merchandise owned by the veteran I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was duly adopted by I .
