ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING SECTION
18.40.130 OF THE SAN BERNARDINO MUNICIPAL CODE TO REQUIRE THAT CUL
DE-SACS BE CONSTRUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH STANDARDS ESTABLISHED BY
THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER.
THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 18.40.130 of the San Bernardino Municipal
Code is amended to read:
"18.40.130 Street - Cul-de-sacs.
The cul-de-sac shall be used only when it is required for the
proper subdivision of land. General use in a subdivision will be
permitted only when the subdivider can establish, to the
satisfaction of the Commission, that designs prepared will produce
a better living environment and that the development of such a
system of streets will not adversely affect the development of
contiguous areas. Where the cul-de-sac is used, it should not
have a length greater than five hundred feet, and it shall have
a turnaround at its terminus in accordance with standards
established by the Director of Public Works/City Engineer. The
Commission and the Mayor and Council may approve cul-de-sac
streets which vary from the requirements of the Director of Public
Works/City Engineer, provided that the deviation is supported by
evidence and findings applicable to variances as set forth in
Chapter 18.60."
