ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING SECTIONS
5.04.530 AND 5.04.535 AND REPEALING SUBSECTION 0 OF SECTION
5.04.420 AND SUBSECTION E OF SECTION 5.04.545 OF THE SAN
BERNARDINO MUNICIPAL CODE TO DELETE PROVISIONS PERMITTING PAYMENT
bF FIFTY PERCENT OF THE BUSINESS LICENSE FEES FOR SIGN BUSINESSES,
ELECTRICAL SIGN ENTERPRISES, COLLECTION AGENCIES AND CONTRACTORS,
AND DECLARING THE URGENCY THEREOF.
THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 5.04.530 of the San Bernardino Municipal
Code is amended to read:
"5.04.530 Sign Businesses.
For every person, firm or corporation conducting, managing or
carrying on the business of painting, manufacturing, erecting or
constructing signs, or submitting a bid thereon, the license fee
is forty-eight dollars per year."
SECTION 2. Section 5.04.535 of the San Bernardino Municipal

Code is amended to read:
"5.04.535 Electrical sign enterprises.
For every person, firm or corporation conducting, managing or
carrying on the business of maintaining, repairing, manufacturing,
erecting or constructing electrical signs including zeon, neon,
fluorescent, and internally lighted signs, or submitting any bid
therefor, the license fee is forty-eight dollars per year."
SECTION 3. Subsection 0 of Section 5.04.420 and Subsection E
of Section 5.04.545 are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. Urgency. This ordinance is an urgency measure,
which shall take effect and become operative upon its adoption and
approval. The facts constituting such urgency are as follows:

strained and a budget deficiency faces the City unless existing
"loopholes" are closed. The taxes required by Sections 5.04.420,
5.04.530, 5.04.535 and 5.04.545 will be due July I, 1983, and
elimination of credits must be effective by that date.
