Subsection A of Section 8.60.120 of the San 6 7 Bernardino Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 8 9 "A. The use of fireworks in the City shall be limited to private property except as otherwise provided in this chapter. No fireworks shall be discharged on public, 10 11 semipublic or private open areas such as parking lots, vacant properties, or in a public street or right-of-way, or in public parks except when specifically permitted for public display, and except those areas approved by the Chief Engineer of the Fire Department." Section 2. This is an urgency ordinance that will take effect immediately upon its enactment. The facts establishing the urgency is that the tendency to use open spaces for fireworks has increased in recent years and the heavy spring rains has created a significant fire danger due to such unsupervised use, therefore to protect the public health, safety and welfare, it is necessary to restrict such use at the July 4th celebration of this year and thereafter. / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / DAB/ses/Firewor3.ord May 21, 1991 1 , t . .
