Me-I 01 6 2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING CHAPTER 19.22 OF THE SAN BERNARDINO MUNICIPAL CODE (DEVELOPMENT CODE) 3 REGARDING INSTITUTIONAL SIGN STANDARDS. 4 THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 5 SECTION 1. Section I9.22.060(G) "PROHIBITED SIGNS" is amended 6 to change the provisions to read as follows (see Attachment I-A, 7 8 Development Code Page III-24, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference): 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 "Changeable Copy signs and electronic message boards, except as allowed by a CUP for movie theaters, arenas, stadiums, or auto malls (in the CR-4 land use district). Institutional uses, such as churches and schools, may incorporate changeable copy in wall or monument signs and are exempt from the CUP requirement." Copy applied to fuel pumps or dispensers such as fuel identification, station logo, and other signs required by law M. Agricultural signs, either wall or freestanding types, non-illuminated, and not exceeding 4 square feet for lots 2 acres or less and 16 square feet for lots greater than 2 acres, identifying only the agricultural products grown on the premises. The number of such signs shall be I per street frontage or a maximum of 2, with wall signs to be located below the roofline and freestanding signs to be no higher than 6 feet. N Sign programs which have been approved prior to the adoption of this Development Code. o Sign programs for theme areas as approved by the Council. P Directional signs to aid vehicle or pedestrian traffic provided that such signs are located on-site, have a maximum area which does not exceed 3 square feet, have a maximum overall height of 4 feet above grade, and are mounted on a monument or decorative pole. Such signs may be located in a required setback provided that a minimum distance of 5 feet from any property line is maintained. Q Temporary window signs may be permitted on the inside of windows facing out which do not cover more than 25 % of the individual window surface for a period not to exceed 30 days use during any 60 day period. Temporary painted signs may be on the outside of the window MC 8345/19/92 19.22.060 PROIDBITED SIGNS The following signs are inconsistent with the sign standards set forth in this Chapter, and are therefore prohibited. A. Abandoned signs B. Animated, moving, flashing, blinking, reflecting, revolving, or any other similar sign, except electronic message boards C. Banners, flags, and pennants, except as permitted by Section 19.22.090. MC 979 915/96. D Bench signs E.
