HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-11-2002 Minutes MINUTES MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO JOINT ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING JUNE 11, 2002 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGENCY BOARDROOM This is the time and place set for a joint adjourned regular meeting of the Mayor and Common Council and Community Development Commission of the City of San Bernardino from the joint adjourned regular meeting held at 3 p.m., Wednesday June 5, 2002, in the Economic Development Agency Boardroom, 201 North "E" Street, San Bernardino, California. The joint adjourned regular meeting of the Mayor and Common Council and Community Development Commission of the City of San Bernardino was called to order by Mayor/Chairman Valles at 2:20 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2002, in the Economic Development Agency Boardroom, 201 North "E" Street, San Bernardino, California. Roll Call Roll call was taken by City Clerk Clark with the following being present; Mayor/Chairman Valles; Council Members/Commissioners Lien, McGinnis, Anderson, McCarmnack; City Attorney Penman, City Clerk Clark, City Administrator Wilson. Absent: Council Members/Commissioners Estrada, Derry, Suarez. Council Member/Commissioner Estrada Arrived At 2:35 p.m., Council Member/Commissioner Estrada arrived at the Council/Commission meeting. I. Budget deliberations - Fiscal Year 2002/03 - discuss & take possible action - proposed City & EDA budgets Fred Wilson, City Administrator, stated that the purpose of the meeting was to review the Draft Capital Improvement Program (CIP), with the goal that it be adopted by the first Council meeting in July. The City of San Bernardino, FY 2002-2003/2006-2007 Draft Capital Improvement Program was submitted into the record. James Funk, Director of Development Services, stated that the Engineering/Public Works Division has been awarded 109 construction projects 1 6/11/2002 totaling $18.7 million. Mr. Funk stated that this fiscal year they plan to complete 79 street and street lighting projects, 11 sewer projects, 10 storm drain projects, 22 traffic control projects, and 17 parks and recreation projects, for a total of 139 projects. Mr. Funk stated that grants are an important component of the CIP budget, since about 90 percent of the funds are nondiscretionary. Ray Casey, City Engineer, Development Services, shared some of this year's accomplishments and provided potential sources of funding and a summary of expenditures for proposed capital improvement projects. Council Member/Commissioner Anderson made a motion, seconded by Council Member/Commissioner McCammack, that the matter be continued to the Council/Commission meeting of June 17, 2002, at 7 p.m. The motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Council Members/Commissioners Estrada, Lien, McGinnis, Anderson, McCarmnack. Nays: None. Absent: Council Members/Commissioners Derry, Suarez. 2. Adjournment At 3:59 p.m., the Council/Commission meeting was adjourned. The next joint regular meeting of the Mayor and Common Council and Community Development Commission is scheduled for Monday, June 17, 2002, in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 300 North "D" Street, San Bernardino.
