Traffic Improvements Underway
at Waterman Avenue and the 210 Freeway
The City and SBCTA have begun an $9.8
million project that will relieve congestion at
the 210 Freeway and Waterman Avenue.
The project will add a second left turn lane
in each direction of Waterman and expand
the eastbound 210 on-ramp from one to two
lanes.
During construction, Waterman Avenue will
remain open at all times, however there will
be periodic lane and onramp closures.
The project is expected to be completed in
November 2025.
Solar Street Lights On Second Street
This week, crews installed new solar
powered streetlights on 2nd Street
from E Street to the 215 Freeway.
The project will test the functionality
of a new type of solar lighting.
These lights automatically illuminate
in the dark, do not require electric
power to operate, and do not have
the copper wiring, which is subject
to theft.
The lights are operational as of
tonight.
Futsal Courts at Lytle Creek Park
Next week, construction will begin
on San Bernardino’s first futsal
court at Lytle Creek Park.
Futsal is a fast-growing variation of
soccer, played by teams of five on a
court about the size of a basketball
court with a ball that is smaller, yet
heavier than a standard soccer ball.
The field is expected to be
completed by May of this year.
