Members of the City Council and Mayor, BBK has long undermined the progress of our beautiful city of San Bernardino. Their actions—or lack thereof—have consistently failed to meet the needs of our residents and businesses. For too many years, BBK has fallen short of fulfilling its contractual obligations, hindering our city’s efforts to rise above the challenges we face. Consider the following issues that have occurred under BBK’s watch: 1. Homelessness Injunction: Thomas Rice, alongside the failed leadership of former CM Field, is directly tied to the injunction placed on our city. This decision demonstrated a lack of compassion, with no regard for those in need of life-saving medicine, while shifting blame to the ACLU. 2. Brown Act Violations: Numerous Brown Act violations have gone unaddressed under BBK’s guidance. 3. Failure to Adhere to Agenda Policies: BBK has a troubling tendency to divert from the Council’s meeting agenda, using politically self-serving rants that have proven to be full of lies. This behavior reflects a lack of moral integrity and professionalism. 4. Homekey Grant Issues: The mishandling of the Homekey Grant reflects poorly on BBK’s ability to provide competent legal support. 5. Animal Shelter Mismanagement: Under Director Watson, the animal shelter has faced serious allegations, including at least 28 missing animals. BBK’s inaction on this matter raises questions about their commitment to transparency and accountability. 6. Legal Jeopardy at Planning Commission Meetings: At a recent meeting, legal jeopardy was averted not by BBK, but by the diligence of Commissioner Daley. This demonstrates BBK’s failure to provide the necessary legal oversight. 7. Closed Zoom Access: Under legal advice, public participation via Zoom remains closed, forcing disabled residents, including veterans like my husband, to attend meetings in person. This exclusionary policy weaponizes public forums against citizens who disagree with council decisions, diminishing our voices. The residents and businesses of San Bernardino deserve better. BBK has demonstrated time and again that they cannot even uphold the standards outlined in their own mission statement. Their failures are actively hindering progress in our city. Tonight, I urge you to take action. It’s time to end BBK’s contract and remove this harmful influence from our city. San Bernardino deserves a legal partner that works for the people, fosters transparency, and upholds the principles of fairness and justice. We, the residents, demand change. Please act in the best interest of our community and let us move forward with integrity and hope. Paula Plunk Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPad
