RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO PROVIDING THAT DISPLACED
FULL TIME COUNTY, SPECIAL DISTRICT, CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL, STATE AND
CALIFORNIA DIVISION OF FORESTRY EMPLOYEES WHOSE JOBS MAY BE ELIMINATED
VIA THE HIGHLAND ANNEXATION OR WHO MAY BE REQUIRED TO TRANSFER TO ANOTHER
WORK LOCATION WHICH IS TWENTY FIVE (25) MILES ONE MAY FURTHER THAN THEIR
CURRENT RESIDENCE-TO44ORK LOCATION COMMUTE IN ORDER TO CONTINUE WORKING
FOR THE COUNTY, SPECIAL DISTRICT, CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL, STATE OR
CALIFORNIA DIVISION OF FORESTRY, AS A RESULT OF THE HIGHLAND ANNEXATION,
SHALL BE OFFERED LIKE EMPLOYMENT WITH THE CITY.
WHEREAS, the City of San Bernardino is interested in providing the
best possible municipal services to its current and future citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Cite has always strived to maintain the highest stan-
W::arkds for all municipal facilities and services; and
WHEREAS, the City is aware that the County of San Bernardino, Special
District, California Highway Patrol, State and California Division of
Forestry may be currently staffing services and facilities in the areas
proposed for annexation; and
WHEREAS, it is a requirement of the Local Agency Formation Commis-
sion and is in the best interest of the City that any displaced employees
be absorbed by the City,.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that all full time County, Special
District,California Highway Patrol, State and California Division of
Forestry employees who may be displaced by this municipal reorganization
shall be offered a position by the City of San Bernardino for like emplovment
with the City to perform comparable service assignments assumed by the
City as a direct result of annexation;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that those full time County, Special District,
California Highway Patrol, State and California Division of Forestry em-
ployees who may be required to transfer to another work location which is
twenty five (25) miles one way further than their current residence -to -
work -location commute in order to continue working for the County, Special

District, California Highway Patrol, State or California Division of
Forestry, as a result of the Highland annexation, shall also be offered
a position by the City of San Bernardino for like er=.nloyment with the City
to perform comparable service assignments assumed by the City as a direct
result of annexation; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that employees as abcive hired in this manner
shall retain accumulated benefits relating to sick leave and vacation time
unless compensated therefor by the County,Special District, California
Highway Patrol, State or California Division of Forestry; and that in all
other respects, the employees hired in the above manner would be under the
same employee benefit program as other City employees in the same bar-
gaining unit.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that employees hired in this manner shall be
hired at a base rate of pay no less than their current base rate of pay.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all part time employees of the County,
Special District, California Highway Patrol, State alld California Division
of Forestry whose jobs may be eliminated via the Highland annexation or
who may be required to transfer to another work location which is twenty
five (25) miles one way further than their current residence -to -work -
location commute in order to continue working for the County, Special
District, California Highway Patrol, State and California Division of
Forestry shall be given preference in filling par�t.ti<ne_City vacancies
for which they qualify, and that all California Division of Forestry
paid -call fire fighters who meet all the qualifications necessary for
City firefighters will be given first preference for all open fire fighter
positions with the City.
