The City wants to remind everyone to stay indoors during peak temperature hours,
limit outdoor exercise or work to the early morning or evening hours, stay hydrated -
drink lots of liquids, keep your pets inside or in the shade with plenty of water, and
most importantly, keep tabs on elderly friends or family.
Air conditioning can get very expensive and can put a strain on the power grid. San
Bernardino’s community centers, senior centers, libraries, pools and splash pads are
available for to cool off that are both fun and free for residents of all ages.
•Representatives from Realicore
broke ground last Thursday on a
new Ono Hawaiian BBQ
restaurant near the intersection
of 5th and H Street.
•The restaurant is expected to
open in the Spring of 2025.
Last Friday, the Evolution Beauty Salon
celebrated its grand opening.
The salon, located at 738 South Waterman, is
owned by Karla Soto, a
recent graduate of the
Emdrend@dores program
for aspiring entrepreneurs
here in San Bernardino.
$5.2 Million Grant from the Department of
Transportation
Earlier today, the City learned it will be receiving a
$5,279,592 Safe Streets and Roads for All grant
from the U.S. Department of Transportation to
design and construct safety countermeasures at
five high-risk locations that have high collision
rates in the City.
The locations are:
•9th Street between Waterman Ave and Del Rosa
•Highland Ave & Eucalyptus Drive
•30th St - San Gabriel St to Cedar St.
•Meridian Ave - Etiwanda St to Rialto Ave.
•Kendall Drive - University Pkwy to H St.
Library Updates
Library Wi - Fi Update
The hardware for the Library’s new wi-fi system was installed
yesterday, September 3rd. The software portion of the system
will be activated at each library within the next two weeks.
Desktop PC internet at the libraries is still awaiting additional
cyber security upgrades to protect the system against
hacking attempts.
Fall Book Sale Returns to Saturday, September 7 and 14
The popular Fall Book Sale will be taking place at Feldheym Library on September 14 and 21 from 10:00 am
until 4:00 pm. Organized by the Friends of the San Bernardino Public Library, proceeds from the sale
enable the Friends of SBPL to sponsor programs at the four San Bernardino libraries.
Books and magazines will be available for purchase in addition to DVDs, music and more. On September
14, the sale will feature the $3 bag sale, where you can fill a bag with books for only $3.
Free Spay and Neutering on September 27
Animal Services has partnered with Michaelson
Found Animals and The Paw Mission to provide
FREE spays and neuters to the community.
The first surgeries will be taking place at the
shelter on Friday, September 27th. City of San
Bernardino residents can book their
appointments at www.sbcitypets.com beginning
tomorrow morning.
There will be 35 surgery spots available for this
first surgery date.
Additional surgery dates will be announced on
the Animal Services website and all social media
platforms @sbcitypets as they become available.
This is the final week for the Clear the Shelters promotion in partnership with NBC4-
LA and Telemundo. Pets can be adopted for $25, which includes: Adoptions are $25
and this fee includes: *spay/neuter, microchip, vaccines, flea and tick medication,
dewormer, FVRCP (Cats), and DA2PPV/ Bordetella (Dogs) ) *(If the animal is not
currently altered, there will be a mandatory refundable deposit of $75)
This weekend, pet adoptions will be free under the Clear the Shelters promotion.
