With nearly 20 years of experience in human
resources and employee relations, Asusena
Soren, or Suzie as she prefers to be called,
comes to San Bernardino after spending the
past fourteen years in the Human Resources
Department of San Bernardino County, most
recently serving as Chief Learning Officer.
Prior to the County, Suzie worked as the
Labor Relations Coordinator for Stater Bros.

Housing Division Sr. Management Analyst
Ashley comes from the City of Upland, where she served in
a similar role for the Upland Police Department. Ashley is
directly responsible for developing and administering the
City’s homeless policies and programs.
Trina comes to the City after 20 years of service with the
County of San Bernardino, most recently in the Community
Development and Housing Department, overseeing their
affordable housing asset portfolio.

The City held a Veterans Day Celebration on
November 11 at Court Street Square. Special
recognition was given to three local veterans:
Corporal Donald Green of the U.S. Marine
Corps, CSM Charles Jolicoeur of the U.S. Army,
and SP Steven Bielak of the U.S. Army.

throughout the Downtown area.

Blair Park Fitness Court Ribbon CuttingBlair Park Fitness Court Ribbon Cutting
On Wednesday, November 9, the City cut the ribbon to celebrate the new Blair
Park Fitness Court. The court was built in partnership with the National Fitness
Campaign with additional funding from San Manuel. It is decorated with a
San Bernardino themed art by local artist Darren Villegas.

Street Improvements Continue on Sierra Way
Work continues to improve a 27-block
stretch of Sierra Way between 3rd Street
and 30th Street. Encompassing two-and
one-half miles of roadway and three
Council Wards (1, 2 and 7), the project
includes pavement replacement and
rehabilitation, the installation of ADA
accessible ramps, and construction of new
sidewalks to connect existing gaps.
The project is expected to be completed in
March 2023.

The Urban Forestry team
cleared an area with
significant overgrown
brush and plants near
Oxford Street. This area
had a high volume of
weeds, tree overgrowth,
wild plants, and soil
erosion, making the sight
lines difficult. The street is
once again safe for
motorists and bicyclists.

Recognizing San Bernardino’s First Female African-American Officer
On November 22 at 6:00 pm, the San Bernardino Police Historical Society
will be unveiling the newest addition to the Police Department Museum,
recognizing retired police officer Sherri Adams, who was the first African-
American female San Bernardino Police Officer.
Free Thanksgiving Dinner at Senior Centers
On Wednesday, November 23, a free Thanksgiving Dinner for
Seniors will be held at the Perris Hill Senior Center at 3:00 pm
and a “to go” Thanksgiving Dinner will be available at the Fifth
Street Senior Center at 2:00 pm. Pre-registration is required at
Seniors@sbcity.org or by visiting one of the senior centers.
