Last week, the County Board of Supervisors approved spending $995,000 to fund improvements to Guadalupe – Sal Saavedra Field in the Westside. The project will renovate the existing building & baseball field, upgrade lights, replace fences, install new bleachers and scoreboard, and install new park amenities. Bid requests to be issued soon with construction likely later this year. This week, the City launched a search for a consultant to work with staff and community stakeholders to develop a comprehensive Economic Development Action Plan. This Plan will set specific goals and objectives for growing and diversifying San Bernardino’s economy, and a detailed action plan for how to achieve the project objectives. Economic Development Action Plan Low Income Water Bill Assistance Program (LIHWAP) This new federal Program (LIHWAP) provides financial assistance to low-income Californians to help to pay down their outstanding residential water and wastewater bills. California has been allocated $116 million in one-time funding to assist residents. San Bernardino Municipal Water Department customers can apply for assistance through the Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino County. Be sure to provide shade and water to pets being kept outside during the daytime to ensure they can stay cool and hydrated. If you have concerns about an animal’s well being, call (909) 384-7272. The winners will advance to the Little League World Series. Games are free to attend.
