The previous grant was for $1.5 million. The United States Department of Transportation along with the Federal Railroad Administration awarded SBPD $120,000 for Operation Safe Rails to educate and increase awareness of the dangers of trespassing on railroad tracks while enforcing violations. This Friday, “Tom and Jerry” will be shown at Anne Shirrells Park. Festivities start at 5:00 pm. Movie begins at dusk. Police conduct multi-agency crime sweep across the city On June 9, 80 police officers and deputies from 9 SB county agencies participated in a multi-agency crime suppression sweep in San Bernardino. Officers made 32 felony arrests, 10 misdemeanor arrests, confiscated 15 illegally possessed firearms, seized 25 pounds of meth, recovered 2 stolen vehicles, and issued 10 gang cards. SBPD would like to thank all of the agencies who assisted in this operation. Fireworks Update: What is Legal? “Safe and Sane” Fireworks are legal to be purchased from a permitted vendor in San Bernardino between July 1 – July 4 only. Fireworks can be ignited on private property only, no discharge on unpaved open areas, public street or right-of-way, or in public parks. Our focus for the July 4th holiday season is to keep the community of San Bernardino safe and free from injury and fire. Our Police Department will have substantial enforcement of illegal fireworks within the City. Due to the risk of fire, all fireworks can only be ignited south of the 210 Freeway.
