and legislative priorities.

This past weekend, Public Works crews
took part in a clean up in an alley near
the corner of 16th Street and F Street with
a significant amount of illegal dumping.

Police Seize Illegal Drugs
The SBPD Narcotics Unit recovered over 8 pounds of Fentanyl,
equivalent to 2 million lethal doses for a normal human being with
a street value of $80,000. Additionally, they recovered 30 pounds of
Methamphetamine with an estimated street value of over $90,000.

Police Respond to Illegal Street Takeovers
The San Bernardino Police Department is taking a zero-tolerance approach to street takeovers.
On May 11, SBPD officers arrested Edgar Pena for his involvement in an April street takeover at 5th and
Mt. Vernon. He was recorded using a device to light the asphalt on fire. Pena was booked for multiple
felonies including vandalism, arson, and possession of a destructive device.
The investigation is on-going, and more arrests are anticipated.

Water Department Receives $8.5 Million
Low Interest Loan for Seismic Improvements
The Water Department was awarded an $8.5 million low -interest
Drinking Water State Revolving Fund loan for seismic upgrades of
four water storage reservoirs. The reservoirs will be retrofitted to
meet the latest building standards and will better withstand future
seismic events.

The annual Summer Reading Program (SRP) begins June 6 and runs
through August 6. The theme is "Read Beyond the Beaten Path,"
which encourages skill development and exploration, both in books
and outdoors. SRP is open to all ages, from kids to seniors. Sign-up
at sbpl.beanstack.org to share book reviews and earn prizes and
entries toward a grand prize raffle.
In recognition of National Adoption Weekend, Bounty Paper Towels in
partnership with the Best Friends Network is sponsoring $25 pet
adoptions from May 20-22. This is cat season, so the Shelter has many
playful cats and kittens to choose from, as well as dogs an puppies.

residents died in drowning accidents.
This Saturday from 10:00 am until noon,
bring your entire family to the Water Safety
Challenge at the Jerry Lewis Family Swim
Center to learn valuable Water Safety Skills.
This fun event will include demonstrations,
informational booths, interactive games,
and free recreational swim for attendees.
