New Solar Lighting at Seccombe Lake Park Installation will be completed this week on 65 new solar lights at Seccombe Lake. This lighting helps with safety and way finding, eliminates the threat of wire theft, and saves in electricity costs. Graffiti Cleanup and Deterrence Continues Public Works continues to actively clean up graffiti in the city. All utility cabinets and smaller cabinets in the downtown area are being painted white as a base color in preparation for artistic painting or wraps to deter graffiti. This covers the Arrowhead to E Street corridors between 4th and 2nd Streets. A utility cabinet was recently painted with the colors of the Ukrainian Flag in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. The City Clerk’s Office processes passport applications by appointment Mon-Thurs from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm. Attendance was estimated around 50,000 and the event concluded with no major incidents. On Sunday March 27th, Officers responded to a carjacking of an Amazon delivery driver. Officers located the stolen van a short time later and after a lengthy vehicle and foot pursuit, took the armed suspect into custody. Goodman has been in law enforcement for over 31 years, and comes to San Bernardino from the City of Upland, where he has spent the last four years as its Chief of Police. Goodman, whose starting date will be June 1st, joins a department currently with 262 sworn officers and 150 civilian staff. He will be the first African-American police chief in the San Bernardino Police department’s 116-year history.
