$150,000 Grant from Irvine Foundation for
the San Bernardino Investment Playbook
The Irvine Foundation has funded
the ASPEN Institute to bring
renowned consultant Bruce Katz
from the Metro Finance Lab at
Drexel University to San
Bernardino to develop an
investment playbook.
An investment playbook is a tool
designed to help the city prioritize
transformational investments and
match them to local, federal, state,
private, and philanthropic funding
sources.
The Irvine Foundation has funded

City Receives $722,772 Grant from State
to Revitalize 4th Street Alley
Governor Newsom announced yesterday that
San Bernadino Public Works is the recipient of a
$722,772 competitive grant through the Clean
California Program to upgrade the 4th Street Alley
between D and E Street.
Work on the project to begin later this year
and will include:
•A 500 square foot stage
•Arched neon sign across alley entrance
•Wall murals painted by local artists
•Trees, shrubs, and a living garden wall
•New benches and tables
•Replace deteriorated ground asphalt
•Upgraded irrigation system
•Two new bike racks
•Additional outdoor lighting
•Trash cans
•Automatic gate

Volunteers Show Up In Large Numbers for
the Homeless Point-In-Time Count
The annual homeless point in time
count took place on Thursday,
February 24 at 5:00 am. The volunteer
turnout was tremendous. Council
members Ibarra and Alexander, along
with Supervisor Baca (all pictured),
attended the event.
In addition to documenting the
number of unhoused individuals,
several were receptive to receiving
services and were connected with
local service providers.

Animal Services impounded over 230
lost dogs in February. But only 55 of
those have been reunited so far with
their owners.
Residents can search for their lost dog
online through our website or come in
person to look for their pet from Noon-3pm
Tuesday through Saturday. We have programs that may help cover a
portion of any costs, if applicable.
This serves as a reminder to get your pet microchipped for easy
identification.

Arrests Made in Three Recent Homicides
On February 16, SBPD investigators located and arrested an
individual for two recent but separate murders that took place on
February 4th and 10th. At the time of arrest, investigators pursued
the suspect on foot through Redlands while he ran armed with the
murder weapon in hand.
On Thursday, February 24, SBPD
investigators located and arrested a
suspect in a February 16 homicide. Inside
the suspect’s vehicle, investigators
located the handgun used in the murder.

Today and Tomorrow, March 2 and 3, the library celebrates
“Read Across America Day. Inghram and Villaseñor Libraries
hosted reading and craft events today.
Feldheym Library will be hosting a themed story time Thursday at
10:30 a.m. along with a “Cat in the Hat” craft kit that is also available
for pick up all week.
Rowe will feature at its regular story time “A Perfectly Messed-Up
Story” by Patrick McDonnell Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with songs and crafts.

Free In-N-Out Burgers for Young Readers
The City of San Bernardino Public Library is partnering again
this spring with In-N-Out Burger to promote reading with the
“Cover to Cover” program.
The reading program runs from Saturday, March 5 to April 16
for children ages 4 to 12 who can receive a coupon for a free hamburger or
cheeseburger for every five books they read.

and Council Election is Friday, March 11
The candidate nomination period for the June Primary runs through March
11 th. Anyone interested in running for Ward 1, 2, and 4 Council positions or
the mayor’s seat are encouraged to contact the City Clerk Office. During the
nomination process the City Clerk will meet with prospective candidates,
provide a nomination handbook, and issue the nomination papers.

crosswalks, and upgraded signage are
making walking and biking conditions safer
for San Bernardino students.
Recent work has been done near Hillside Elementary, Anton
Elementary, Pacific High, and Cajon High. In addition to physical
improvements, an education campaign will teach safe habits.
Hillside Elementary will be celebrating a walk to school day March 17
at 7:30 am in conjunction with the City, SBUSD and Omnitrans.

First Carbon Neutral Hydrogen Home
in U.S Built in San Bernardino
Connect Homes, located on Riverview Drive in Ward
Three in partnership with the SoCal Gas Company,
unveiled the first hydrogen home in the United States on
Monday, February 28. The carbon neutral manufactured
home will be moved to its permanent location in Downey.
Job Fair Tomorrow at Inland Center Mall
San Bernardino County will be hosting a job fair March 3 at
their Inland Center Mall Job Center from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Among the participating local employers currently hiring are
SB County Public Defender Office for Record Clearing, Pacific
Dermatology, Comfort Keepers, Shipmonk, GLS Parcels and
Freight, Unicare, U.S Rubber Recycling, and Weber Logistics.
