On Tuesday, August 8th, the County Board of Supervisors approved a new Fire Station 226 to be built at 1920 Del Rosa Avenue. The new station will be more than twice the size of the current one. expanding from 4,300 square feet to 10,267 square feet. Construction on the station is estimated to be completed in one year. Youth Council Holds First MeetingYouth Council Holds First Meeting The newly created San Bernardino Youth Civic Engagement Council, a partnership between the City and SBCUSD met yesterday. The Council is made up of local high school students looking to learn about City government, as well as meet with and shadow City staff and elected officials to gain insight into how the City operates. Yesterday, the Youth Council members met with Mayor Tran, Council Member Calvin, and City Manager McNeely. The newly created San Bernardino Youth Civic Engagement Council, a partnership between the City and SBCUSD met yesterday. Police Crack Down on Ghost GunsPolice Crack Down on Ghost Guns On August 4th, 2023, SBPD officers served a search warrant in involving a local gang member manufacturing ghost weapons using a 3D printer. After serving a search warrant on the residence and a storage unit, the officers found the convicted felon has been manufacturing numerous weapons ON SEVEN 3D PRINTERS which are being provided to other gang members in the community. SB Symphony at Roosevelt Bowl Sept. 9SB Symphony at Roosevelt Bowl Sept. 9 Parks and Recreation, with support from Hillwood, will be bringing Maestro Anthony Parthner and the San Bernardino Symphony to the Roosevelt Bowl at Perris Hill Park on Saturday, September 9th. With a theme of “A Night to Remember,” the fourth oldest symphony in California will be bringing the heavenly sounds of classical music to one of San Bernardino’s most historic venues. There will also be an “instrument petting zoo for kids to try out some of the instruments in an orchestra. Admission is complimentary thanks to the event sponsor. Gates open at 5:00 with the concert running from 7:00 until 9:30. Animal ServicesAnimal Services The Animal Shelter currently has over 250 wonderful dogs and dozens of cats, including kittens available for adoption. Through August 31, all adoptions are only $25, which includes spay/neutering, vaccines, and microchipping. City Hall Selfie DayCity Hall Selfie Day Yesterday, staff members from around the City took a few minutes to celebrate each other and the City they work for by taking selfies of their teams and City Hall as part of City Hall Selfie Day. She was nominated by the Athletics Director Monique Carranza, who she worked with to get Fiscalini in tip top shape to host the 2023 NCAA Division II Regional Championships. Way to go!!
