AB 349 Advances in Legislature
On Tuesday, June 13, the Senate Government Organization Committee unanimously
voted to advance AB 349 to the Appropriations Committee.
Mayor Tran and Assembly Member Ramos testified on behalf of the bill, which
would allow the State to lease a portion of Patton Hospital to house and treat
homeless with mental health issues.

Cleaning Up the CityCleaning Up the City
Yesterday, Public Works and their contractor, Center for Employment
Opportunities, were out cleaning up illegal dumping at forty-five
locations across the City.
The trash collected is enough to fill about three semi-trailers!

Big Day for a Local Business
On June 8, The Factorie on Highland celebrated its grand re-opening. Owner Jamal
Moreno was surprised when Economic Development staff presented him with a $25,000
check for completing the requirements of the City’s Small Business Grant Program.
To date, the City of San Bernardino has awarded over $1.25 million to local small
businesses and non-profits.

Last week, 28 youth from San Bernardino went on a five-day, four-night camping
trip to Wrightwood’s Camp Elk as part of the Parks and Recreation Back-2-Nature
Program. Funded through the California Outdoor Equity Grant Program, Back 2
Nature is designed to remove all barriers that would otherwise keep kids from
enjoying the outdoors. Free equipment, transportation, and food were provided.

On Thursday, June 15, Detective Darren Sims was recognized as SBPD Officer of the
Year at the 45th Annual Law Enforcement Recognition Dinner held last night by the
San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce.
In addition, the SBPD Explorers brought home two awards from the National
Explorers Competition – 1st Place in the Unknown Trouble competition and 2nd
Place in the Officer Needs Assistance competition.

the ground or explode. This includes,
firecrackers, skyrockets, roman candles, or
explosive items, such as M-80’s or M-100’s.
No one under 18 may buy or possess fireworks
Any firework usage is prohibited north of the
210 Freeway and 30th Street.
Any firework usage is prohibited in public
parks or on public streets.

San Bernardino Police and SB County Fire will be working
in tandem to enforce San Bernardino Fireworks laws
A first violation will result in a fine of $1,000
A second violation will result in a fine of $2,500
A third violation will result in a fine of $3,000
