HomeMy WebLinkAboutMayor and City Council Report 4-5-23City Manager Report toThe Mayor and City Council April 5, 2023 City Manager Report toThe Mayor and City Council April 5, 2023 Pothole Repair Update In addition to responding to CRM’s, the following streets have been pothole-patched of any fillable, significant, potholes: Rialto, Tippecanoe, Del Rosa, E Street, G Street, H Street, Hallmark, Waterman, Hospitality, Baseline, Kendall, Mountain View, University, Gilbert and Highland, 40th, Northpark, 30th, 9th, Golden, 2nd Street, Cajon Blvd and Third Street. An additional 160 tons of asphalt material was delivered last week. Public Works is working to expedite street segment repairs that go beyond traditional pothole patching. While there, meetings were held with Federal Agencies including the Dept. of Treasury, Commerce, Labor, and Veterans Affairs, as well as Senator Padilla, Congressman Aguilar, and staff members of Senator Feinstein and Congressman Obernolte to discuss legislation, Federal programs, and funding opportunities that would benefit San Bernardino. Workshops were attended that focused on housing, broadband, ARPA funds, clean energy, workforce training, and electric vehicles. The NLC City Cultural Diversity award recognizes cities that developed innovative programs demonstrating cultural diversity and promoting inclusive resident involvement. The City was selected from over 50 submissions. Congratulations to the Parks and Recreation staff and countless volunteers for making Festival a success! Fentanyl Powder One Arrest City NewsCity News Carousel Mall Demolition Ceremony The City will be holding a ceremony to commemorate the start of the Carousel Mall’s demolition at 10:00 am on Monday, April 24. This will mark a significant milestone in the redevelopment of the 43-acre property in Downtown San Bernardino. EGGstravaganza this Saturday The second annual Eggstravaganza will take place from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 8 at Speicher Park. There will be egg hunts for kids up to 12 featuring over 20,000 eggs, games, crafts, and photos with the Bunny. Kudos to staff and volunteers who have been busy stuffing the eggs with goodies all week. City NewsCity News Ramos’ Homeless Mental Health Bill Advances AB 349 – The proposed state bill to permit the state to use a portion of Patton State Hospital to provide housing and mental health services to homeless individuals from this region has advanced for a vote to the full Assembly after passing in the Appropriations and Accountability and Administrative Review Committees. Parks Master Plan Website Launches Parks and Recreation has embarked on a community focused process to develop a new master plan to identify current and future facility needs, as well as youth, senior and recreation programs for the City’s parks, community centers, and senior centers.
