Cross Street Bridge Repair
Last Thursday, the City deemed the Cross Street Bridge compromised and in need of
emergency closure. This cut off vehicle access to a small neighborhood comprising of two
apartment complexes and several single-family homes.
Working with SBCUSD, the City was able to build a temporary road through Fairfax
Elementary School and restore access in less than 24 hours.
The City is now developing expedited plans to replace the bridge.

2nd Street Bridge Completed
Yesterday, Second Street between Arrowhead Avenue and Mountain View Avenue re-opened
to vehicle and pedestrian traffic in conjunction with the completion of the new 2nd Street
Bridge, restoring a key mobility corridor downtown.

Parks Wins Three State Awards
On March 7, the California Parks and Recreation Society announced that the San Bernardino Parks
and Recreation Department had been named the winner of three statewide awards!
The Department received the Marketing & Communications Award of Excellence for Los Parques
Mejoran La Vida,which revitalized Park’s branding to San Bernardino’s Spanish speaking
community, providing a greater awareness and access to programs, events, and activities.
The Creating Community Award of Excellence Award went to the Inland
Empire Senior Games – for promoting fitness and the spirit of
competition.
Konstance Murrell was awarded the Service Award of
Excellence – Champion of the Community. Konnie has been
volunteering with the Parks and Recreation Youth Sports
Programs for over six years. She has donated over 1,000
hours, assisted in over four sports as a volunteer coach or
team parent, spanning 17 seasons of Mini Ballers, Youth
Basketball, Soccer, and a variety of different clinics.

This morning, Mayor Tran was in Sacramento testifying to the Assembly Accountability
and Administrative Review Committee on behalf of AB 349 (Ramos).
The proposed bill would authorize the State to lease out a portion of Patton State Hospital
to a non-profit or governmental agency to house homeless and provide mental health
services.

Police Fentanyl Bust
The SBPD Narcotics Unit last week stopped a subject and located 4.4 pounds of
fentanyl in the vehicle. This fentanyl was pure and had not been diluted with other
substances, making it particularly deadly. This amount of fentanyl could kill
approximately 100,000 people. One subject was arrested for the fentanyl.
It only takes .02 grams (pictured right next to the penny) to kill the average adult.

Free In-n-Out Burgers for Young Readers
The San Bernardino Public Library is partnering again with In-N-Out Burger
to promote reading with its “Cover to Cover” program.
The reading program runs through April 15 for children ages 4 to 12 who will
receive a coupon for a free hamburger or cheeseburger for every five books
they read.

On March 9, the U.S. Post Office released a series of five forever
stamps commemorating historic train stations across the country.
One of the five is San Bernardino’s own Santa Fe Depot.
