Chapter 27 assessments, 1984-1, was completed May 20, 1986.
of 20 working days was allowed for completion of all work.
The contract was awarded for the low bid of $32,412.57. The final
contract price is $26,923.58. The contract price was reduced by
$1,796.49 for reduced quantities used in the work. An additional
reduction of $3400.00 was made in liquidated damages. Although
44 days in excess of the allotted contract time was used, negoti ations
with the Sontractor reduced this to 34 days. Staff feels this is
fair and recovers the City's costs for inspection and project
administrative costs for the excess working days. The Contractor is
aware of the damages and has accepted the negotiated amount. An.
additional reduction of $292.50 was made for repeat soils testing
that was the responsibility of the Contractor.

We, therefore, recommend the work be approved and accepted with final
