This court was demolished to allow construction of the community center building. The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services requested that a new basketball court be included in the project for the community center. Plans for a court were prepared by the Architect. This item of work was included in the Bid Schedule as Additive Alternate No.1, due to an anticipated shortage of funds. The low bidder indicated a price of $22,044.00 for Additive Alternate No.1. Because of a shortage of funds, Additive Alternate No.1 was not included in the contract award. At their meeting of 5-B-B6, the Council Redevelopment Committee recommended that funds be provided from the 19B5-B6 CDBG Contingency Account to finance costs for construction of the basketball court under this contract. The Contractor has indicated a willingness to construct the basketball court on a time and materials basis, at a price not to exceed $22,044.00. Some cost savings are expected by going on an actual cost basis.
