SAN BERNARDINO CITY WIDE UNITY COMMITTEE
1865 CLYDE STREET
SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA
May 3.1986
Mayor Evlyn Wilcox
Members of Common Council
Ci ty Hall
San Bernardino, California
Feeling the need to promote harmony within the city of San
Bernardino, providing our youth with an opportunity to display
their talents in a wholesome setting, developing awareness on the
part of the citizens of our city of the need to stand together in
support of law enforcement officers and city officials, we are
organizing a City-Wide Unity Concert. We seek your support and
the assistance of the Parks and Recreation Department for this
concert.
It is our hope that as a result of this Concert there will be a
commitment on the part of youth and adult members of our
community to care for private property, stem the tide of drug
traffic and a renewed appreciation of the benefits of our area as
a place to raise families in safety.
We therefore ask for permission to use thePerris Hill Bowl on
Saturday, June 7th, 1986 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We will need
the piano, sound equipment and volunteer staff. The plan of the
City-Wide Unity Concert is to present a program which will
accentuate the wonderful cultural diversity of our area. The
program will be non-religious though some of the musical
selections will, of necessity, be religious.
We hope that you will extend this cooperation to us.
Sincerely,
~~~=~
Dear Mayor wilcox and Council Members:
The Reverend Elijah Singletary has .organized a City-
Wide Unity Concert for Saturday, June 7, 1986. He is
asking for assistance from the Parks and Recreation De-
partment for this event and is proposing that it be
held at Perris Hill Park.
The idea of this concert seems good and to help benefit
this event a group from the Youth Ministry Program and
a local church choir from the Catholic Diocese of San
Bernardino will participate in this event.
We support the efforts of Reverend Singletary for this
outreach to our people.
