Supplemental funding in the amount of $40,000 approved. Resolution No. 85-392 adopted awarding the contract to the low bidder for the low bid price of $138,760.00. That Change Order No. One to the contract with SCC r,eneral Contractor, for the construction of two racquetball courts at the Boy's Club, in accordance with Plan No. 6684, be approved; to authorize the Contractor to frame the new roof into the existing roof, at an increase in contract price of $2,208.44, from $138,760.00 to $140,968.44; e 2. OF SAN BERNARD. - REQU.T FOR COUNCIL ACeoN . . . 75-0264 STAFF REPORT Change Order No. One was submitted to the Mayor and Common Council for approval at the February 17, 1986 meeting. At that meeting, the Mayor and Common Council referred Change Order No, One back to the Director of Public Works, with a directive to negotiate with the Architect. This action was evidently taken due to a feeling that the extra work should have been incor- porated into the plans and included in the bid price. The Architect was contacted as directed.. It was the Architect's suggestion that Change Order No. 1 be approved, and that if the City desired all change orders could be negotiated after completion of the project. Since the Contractor has performed the necessary extra work covered by Chanqe Order No, I, we recommend that approval be given to authorize payment. All change orders for this facility amounted to a net increase in contract price of $5,787.21, from $138,760,00 to $144,547.21, an increase of approximately 4%. The total estimated project cost, based upon the actual low bid price, contained $22,140 for contingencies as extra work. All work was satisfactorily completed as of 3-2-86. The contract was awarded for the low bid price of $138,760.00. The actual final contract price is $144,547.21, due to the increases authorized by Change Orders No, 1 through 4. We recommend that the work be aporoved and accepted, and that final payment be authorized at the expiration of the lien period. SYNOPSIS OF PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION Continued: 03-03-86 -- Change Order No. Two approved to authorize the Contractor to construct windows into two doors at an increase in contract price of $228.44, from $140,968.44 to $141,196.88. 03-03-86 -- Change Order No. Three approved to authorize the Contractor to fur the court walls to meet the required dimension necessary to install the courts at an increase in contract price of $1,195.75, from $141,196.88 to $142,392.63. 03-03-86 -- Change Order No. Four approved; to authorize the Contractor to reconstruct the existing air-conditioning system, reinstall existing electrical lights, outlet fixtures, thermostat and install 75 L.F. of gas line to the new air-conditioning unit, at a net increase in contract price of $2,154.58, from $142,392.63 to $144,547.21.
