That Change Order ~o. Two to the contract with SCC General
Contractor, for the construction of two racquetball courts at
the Boy's Club, in accordance with Plan No, 6684 be approved; to
authorize the Contractor to modify the two exterior doors by
installation of windows, at an increase in contract price of
$228.44, from $140,968.44 to $141,196.88.

STAFF REPORT
.
During construction, it was discovered that the steel doors to be
installed to the outside and into the existing gym, were specified as
solid. Providing a glass opening in the doors to allow a view of the
other side would be desirable and enhance safety.
A directive was accordingly given to the Contractor to provide
windows in these doors, It was necessary for the Contractor to cut the
openings in the doors, and install safety glass (10" X 34") to achieve
proper vision.
The total estimated project cost, based upon the actual low bid
price, contained an amount of $22,140 for contingencies. which can be
used to finance the cost of this extra work.
We feel that the price of $228.44 for this work is fair and
equitable. As this is a safety feature, we recommend that Change Order
No, Two be approved.
