An investigation by the Electrical Engineer revealed that the electrical power was too low for proper operation of these motors. This condition was corrected by the installation of a transformer for each precooler by the Contractor for the electrical work, at no cost to the City. A claim was submitted by San-Val Engineering for the cost of re- placing these 4 sump motors, since the problem was due to the design of the electrical system. The Construction Manager has reviewed the claim and verified that the amount of $796.04 is fair and equitable for the work per- formed. A copy of the letter from Bill Doran, dated 1-17-86, is attached for reference. The Budget vs. 8id Analysis, dated 12-6-84, included an amount of $5,000.00 for the estimated future cost of change orders to the contract for HVAC. Approval of Change Order No. Five brought the total amount for change orders up to $6,621.29. Approval of Change Order No.6 will increase the over-run to $2,417.33. Since the burning out of the motors was not the fault of the HVAC Contractor, we concur with the recommendation by the Construction Manager.
