STAFF REPORT
Justification for Placement on Supplemental Agenda
The City has been approached by Network Enterprises to host the County
Qualifying Race for Super Run II--America's Race. Because of their
expertise in sponsoring like racing events, the YMCA has been asked to
co-host the event with the City of San Bernardino and assume responsibility
for its management. It is recommended that the City of San Bernardino help
fund part of the expenses which are anticipated. For details of the res-
ponsibilities, and costs, please see the attached contract (and Addendum),
Responsibility Chart and cost breakdown,
This item was presented to the Ways and Means Committee for their review
on January 13, 1986, after the deadline for the submission of items for
the regular agenda,
Please note: Because the National State competition will be held in May,
the County qua 1 i fyi ng race wi 11 be hel d on Apri 1 20, 1986. Due to thi s
time frame, County advertising must commence in January if we are to success-
fully bring a field of one thousand or more runners to our community to
participate in this race. Should the Council wish to co-sponsor this event,
it is necessary to approve of the event and the appropriations so that we
may begin the advertising of the race.
