CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUESt FOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
The 1985/86 Eligible Bridge List for the HBRR includes the following
three (3) structures within the City of San Bernardino:
Street Location
1. Mt. Vernon Avenue Second to Fourth Street
2, Valley Street @ Warm Creek
3, Waterman Canyon Rd. @ East Twin Creek
Estimated
Cost
$ 4,200,000
139,000
32,000
Federal funds are available to finance 80% of the total cost.
This is the first time that the Mt, Vernon Avenue Bridge has been
included on the list of eligible projects. ~/ithout any improvements to the
structure, we can fully expect that it will appear on future lists. We
recommend that this project not proceed until absolutely necessary, since
Mt, Vernon Avenue will probably have to be closed to traffic for a period of
several months,
The Valley Street Bridge has been previously nominated under a list
for supplemental funds.
Damage was sustained by the Waterman Canyon Bridge during the
Panorama Fire, The structure has required 9reater than normal maintenance
since that time. Local Agency funds in the amount of $6,400 (20%) will
need to be provided by the City in the 1986-87 Budget.
We recommend that the Waterman Canyon Road Bridge be nominated
for fundin9 under this program.
