Synopsis of Previous Council action:
08-06-84 --- Plans for construction of skylights approved and authorization
granted to advertise for bids.
10-15-84 All bids received on 9-11-84 rejected and Architect directed to
revise plans as necessary to secure a bid for the Architect/
Engineer's Estimate of $90,000.00. Also, authorization granted
to re-advertise for bids with the revised plans.
01-21-85 -- Resolution No. 85-29 adopted awarding a contract to Metco
Specialty Company for construction of Skylights for the New
Central Library in Pioneer Park, in accordance with Plan No.
6460, for the low bid price of $93,790.00.
08-19-85 -- Change Order No. One approved to authorize the deduction of the

Recommended motion:

That the work performed by the Contractor, in accordance
with Specification No. 6460, be approved and accepted;
and that final payment be authorized at the expiration of
the lien period.

All work under this contract was satisfactorily completed as of
12-06-85.
The contract was awarded to Metco Speciality Company for the low
bid price of $93,790.00. However, during construction, Change Order No.
One was approved to decrease the contract price by $1,079.00, as a back
charge for costs incurred for protecting the interior drywall and repairing
drywall damage caused by Metcoe Specialty during their operations. The
actual final contract price is $92,711.00.
A copy of the letter from the Architect, dated 11-06-85, certifying
that the work under this contract is 100% complete, is attached for reference.
We concur with the Architect's recommendation that the work be
approved and accepted, and that final payment be authorized at the expiration
of the lien period.
URGENCY CLAUSE
Since this work has been completed, it is necessary that it be approved and
accepted in order that the final payment can be made in a timely manner.
