Six appraisers were contacted to give the City letters of
valuation for three (3) City-owned parcels located:
1. West of Pennsylvania, South of Belleview Street;
2. West side of Del Rosa Avenue, North of Marshall
Boulevard; and
3. 1215 Colima Avenue.
Mr. Robert Cooley, one of the six appraisers, notified our
office that he could do the jOb at $400.00 per parcel and that
it would be completed within 30 days of starting.
Mr. c. M. Benefiel, the other appraiser that responded to our
letter, stated that he would do the jOb at $300.00 per parcel
and could have the jOb completed within two weeks.
We asked for letters of valuation for two reasons:
1. Length of time to receive, and
2. Cost - (We saved approximately $6,000.00 by obtaining
letters of valuation instead of appraisals).
As of this date, there are no written procedures for the
retaining of an appraiser.
The funds for the appraisals are to be paid from the sale of the
parcels.
