STAFF REPORT
Caltrans, in response to Councilman Strickler's request.
conducted a traffic investigation at the intersection of 36th
and "E" Streets (State Highway 206) and made some
recommendations. These recommendations. which basicly entail
extensive no parking zones and tree removal. were discussed at
the 9-18-85 Mayor's Traffic Safety Committee meeting.
The Traffic Safety Committee members decided to further review
the Caltrans tree removal proposal at their next meeting. but
recommends that the Mayor and City Council establish No Parking
zones. approximately 125 feet in distance. on both sides of "E"
Street, north of 36th Street. The proposed No Parking zones
will provide better sight distance for traffic exiting from
36th Street.

REQUQT FOR COUNCIL Ac.:,)ON
STAFF REPORT
The Engineering Division received a request from Caltrans to
consider establishing parking res'trictions at the Vista
Lookout, on Waterman Avenue (State Route 18). known as
"Inspiration Point". Caltrans indicated that the location has
been abused by people, mostly by teenagers "partying" at night,
and has resulted in daily clean-up maintenance for Caltrans.
Lt. Myer, of San Bernardino Police Department, also indicated
that associated alcohol and drug problems are frequently
experienced at this location.
This matter was discussed at the 9/18/85 Mayor's Traffic Safety
Committee meeting. and it is recommended that No Parking
between 9 P.M. and 6 A.M. be established at this location.
