Agenda Item N~ -- -~ - CI'(. ' OF SAN BERNARDIO - REQUr~1' FOR COUNCIL AC .lON ....... STAFF REPORT Traffic studies indicate that the existing traffic signals at 3rd Street and Mt. View Avenue are no longer needed. Mt. View Avenue. between 3rd and 4th Streets. has been vacated to the County. and the County office has subsequently converted Mt. View Avenue at 3rd Street to a one-way street accommodating entrance traffic only. The south leg of the intersection serves the Caltrans, District 8 office. Field investigation shows that there are approximately 380 vehicles exiting the Cal trans driveway during a typical weekday which is far below the minimum requirements for traffic signals. Additionally. the existing traffic signals are fixed-time type and not responsive to the traffic flow. which has resul ted in delays and inconvenience to the general public. especially during evening hours and weekends when downtown businesses are closed. The removal of the traffic signals will provide an annual cost savings of $3.500.00 for energy and maintenance. This item was discussed at the September 18th, 1985. Mayor's Traffic Safety Committee and the recommendation to remove the existing traffic signals at 3rd Street and Mt. View has been unanimously approved. 2 75-0264 - - +---- - , ,,", ........ 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 13200 ENTITLED IN PART "RESOLUTION . . .
