This department is recommending four (4) projects for submission as follows: Palm Field (Ward 2) - Replacing present lighting system with energy efficient lighting. Nicholson Park, San Ri Field (Ward 3) - Replace present lighting system with energy efficient lighting. Hillcrest Park (Ward 5) - Rehabilitate the entire park to provide a neighborhood recreation site to include landscaping, irrigation, picnicking amenities and drinking fountain. Patton Park South (Ward 7) - Rehabilitate landscaped areas around ball- fields and parking lot and develop the large open area at Arden and Pacific. This will include landscaping, irrigation, picnicking amenities, etc. Upgrading the lighting systems will continue our efforts at making all ball- field lighting systems more efficient and will provide a safer playing environment as well. The rehabilitation and development of the two park sites will provide community and neighborhood recreation facilities for areas which do not now have a neighborhood site. These projects have been discussed and recommended by the Parks and Recreation Commission and this department staff recommends submission of the applications for local assistance grants.
