Council Notes: 75-0262 / Agenda Item NO~ ~ , CIT~ OF SAN BERNARDlio - REQUEilr FOR COUNCIL AC-h>ON STAFF REPORT BID SPEC: F-85-29 The proposed purchase is for one New Sewer and Storm Drain Cleaning Machine, to be utilized in daily operations by the Public Services/Street Department. At the re- quest of the department, and in co-ordination with the Equipment Superintendent, appropriate specifications were prepared, published and furnished to area equipment suppliers. Bids were publicly opened and declared on July 17, 1985. The following is a summary of bids received. COMPANY EQUIPMENT VACTOR MODEL 810 VACTOR MODEL 810 VACTOR MODEL 810 TOTAL BID INCL TAX $138,640.58 137,743.82 139,731.32 G.C.S., INC. HAAKER EQUIPMENT CO. ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION CONTROL Specifications as bid have been reviewed with the Equipment Superintendent and Dir- ector of Public Services, who concur that the bid of Haaker Equipment Company meets specifications and requirements. It is therefore recommended that the bid be ac- cepted for contract. FUNDING The Department of Public Services had recommended $95,000 for a Sewer and Storm Drain Vacuum Machine in 1984. Two vendors assured the Equipment Superintendent and Director of Public Services that their equipment, in that price range, would meet all specifications. After both vendors demonstrated their products in the City, both failed. In Februray, 1985, at a meeting with the City Administrator, Director of Finance, Equipment Superintendent and Director of Public Services, it was agreed to accept bids for the next class of equipment. The specifications and bidding process were completed in late June, 1985. The amount of $95,000 was included in the 1984-85 budget for this equipment item. An additional amount of $42,744 must be provided to complete the transaction. The Director of Finance recommends that the additional funds be transferred from the unappropriated reserve in the sewer line construction fund and that the 1985-86 budget be amended to reflect the transfer. 75.0264 .
