Synopsis of Previous Council action:
3-07-85 Expenditure of $7,015.00 authorized for widening approximately 150
feet of Arrowhead Avenue (west side), south of Highland Avenue.
6-17-85 --- Plans approved and authorization granted to advertise for bids for
widening of 5 streets located at 5th & Mt. View; 7th & Arrowhead;
11th & "0" and Arrowhead s/o Highland
Recommended motion:
That the bid received on 9-3-85, for minor street
widening at 5 various locations, in accordance with Plan
No. 6749, be rejected; and the Director of Public Works/
City Engineer authorized to re-advertise for bids.

STAFF REPORT
Bids for this project were received at 2:00 p.m, on Tuesday, 9-3-85.
A total of 1 bid was received in the'amount of $88,604.00. This bid
is 65% over the Engineer's Estimate of $53,686.00.
listed below is an estimate of the total project cost, based upon the
actual low bid price:

An amount of $56,424 has been allocated in the Street Construction
Fund, under Account No. 242-362-57357, to finance the costs incurred for
this project.
Since only 1 bid was received, that was considerably in excess of
the Engineer's Estimate, we feel that a competitive price was not obtained.
Therefore, we recommend that the bid be rejected and authority granted to
re-advert i s e,
URGENCY CLAUSE:
It is essential that the improvement be installed at the earliest possible
date in order to have the capability to accommodate storm waters during the
rainy season.'
