Synopsis of Previous Council action:
01-09~84 Plans approved and authorization granted to advertise for bids.
02-20-84 -- Resolution No. 84-64 adopted awarding a contract for $448,000 to
Buckner-Hilson Fabricators, for construction of Structural Steel
for the New Central Library in Pioneer Park.
05-13-85 -- Change Order No. One approved to authorize payment for various
items of extra work at an increase in contract price of $5,655.41,
from $448,000 to $453,655.41.
05-13-85 -- Change Order No. Two approved to authorize payment for various
items of extra work at an increase in contract price of $12,524.88
from $453,655.41 to $466,180.29.

Recommended motion:

That the work performed by the Contractor, in accordance
with Specification No. 6456 be approved and accepted;
and that final payment be authorized at the expiration
of the lien period.

STAFF REPORT
All work involved in the construction of structural steel for the
new Central Library has been satisfactorily completed and the project is
ready to be accepted.
The contract was awarded for the low bid price of $448,000.00. The
actual final contract price is $464,782.76, due to the net aggregate increase
of Change Orders No. I, 2 and 3.
A letter has been received from the Architect, Gregory Villanueva,
A.LA. and Associates, certifying that the work included in Bid Package No.2
is 100% complete. Also, a recommendation has been submitted by the Construc-
tion Manager, J. D. Diffenbaugh, recommending that the contract be accepted
as complete and final.
We recommend that the structural steel be accepted and that final
payment be authorized.

SYNOPSIS OF IREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION Continued:
5-30-85 -- Change Order No. Three approved to authorize payment to revise
and install elevator tubes and to compensate for late delivery,
and miscellaneous corrections and problems that added extra cost
to the contract, at a net decrease to the contract of $1,397.53,
from $466,180.29 to $464,782.76.

Re: Central Library Bid Pack #2 - Structwnal Steel
Gentlemen:
All work for above referenced project has been completed in accordance
with their contract documents. This includes correction of all punch
list items.
Change Order #3 was their last change order. If this has been
approved. we therefore recommend that the City accept this contract as
100% complete and final.
Please send us a copy of the Council action for our records, so that
we may record the start of their warranty period. It is our under-
standing that your office will file the Notice of Completion.
If you need any additional information. please do not hesitate to
contact us.
