authorized to readvertise this project for bids.

STAFF REPORT

On June 4,1985, bids were received and opened for the
Construction of a Trash Enclosure at Nunez Park. A total of one
bid was submitted in the amount of $32,495.00. This bid is 71%
over the Engineer's estimate for the work, and analysis of the
individual bid item also reflects substantial increase over the
Engineer's estimate.
In previous Council actions, Staff reports indicated a total
project cost of $27,000.00 including construction inspection and
contingencies of 15%.
If readvertised, staff will make efforts to contact local
contractors who may not subscribe to the construction news
organizations and/or builders exchanges contacted during the first
advertizing period. It is anticipated this will generate more
bids on the project.
We recommend that all bids received June 4, 1985, be rejected and
authorization be given for Staff to readvertise this project.
