STAFF REPORT
8ids for providing these landscaping maintenance services were opened
at 2:00 p,m. on Tuesday, 5-7-85,
A total of 4 bids were received, ranging from $2,040.00 to $6,437.00.
The low bid of $2,040,00 is 38,2% under the Engineer's Estimate of $3,300.00.
Listed below is an estimate of the total estimated cost of providing
these landscaping maintenance services from 7-1-85 to 6-30-86, based upon the
actual low bid price,

The Notice to Proceed will be effective on July 1, 1985. The contract
will be in effect until June 30, 1986. Bids will be sol icited for a new
contract commencing on July 1, 1986.
Funding for the costs incurred on this project will be provided pur-
suant to Resolution No, 82-159, adopted on April 19, 1982, which orders the
installation and maintenance of the landscaping. The landscaping was in-
stalled under a previous contract. Costs for maintenance will be pre-funded
by the City, as set forth in the Resolution of Intention (Resolution No.
82-120), and the amount reimbursed through assessments levied on all parcels
within the district for the following fiscal year,
Supervision of the maintenance effort will be provided by the Depart-
ment of Parks, Recreation and Community Services, who has reviewed the bids
and agrees to awarding a contract.
We recommend that a contract be awarded to the low bidder,

RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION.OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AWARDING A CONTRACT TO
SANDAHL'S LANDSCAPING FOR MAINTENANCE OF LANDSCAPING IN PORTIONS OF 16TH
STREET, BETWEEN MUSCOTT STREET AND CALIFORNIA STREET.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL Of THE CITY Of SAN
BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Sandahl's Landscaping is determined to be the lowest
responsible bidder for construction of a public project, to-wit:
Maintenance of Landscaping in portions of 16th Street, between Muscott
Street and California Street, Assessment District No. 953, in accordance
with Plan No. 6177 (1985-86), for the total amount of $2,040.00, a contract
is awarded to said bidder accordingly, but such award shall be effective
only ~~on the contract being fully executed by the parties; all other bids
therefor are hereby rejected; and the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed
to execute said contract on behalf of the City; a copy of the contract is
attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by reference as
fully as though set forth at 1 ength.
SECTION 2. The City of San Bernardino shall not be obligated by
making this award unless and until the contract is fully executed and no
oral agreement relating thereto is intended or authorized and should not be
implied.
I flEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted
by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino at a
meeting thereof, held on the
