Dept: '" Date: Synopsis of Previous Council action: The Council authorized part-time employment for eight (8) people as summer lunch monitors on April 9, 1984. These monitors were employed for a period of 47 days during the months of June, July and August 1984. Recommended motion: That the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department be authorized to hire eight (8) summer lunch monitors on a part-time basis, for a 47 day period during the months of June, July, and August, 1985. ~ Signature Contact person: John A. Finance: Council Notes: 75-0262 Agenda Item No. t, . eM OF SAN BERNARD:AO - REQu:5T FOR COUNCIL A~ION STAFF REPORT The federally funded Summer Lunch porgram has been successfully operated for the past ten years. During the summer of 1984, 30 feeding stations were established at locations in and around the City of San Bernardino. An average of 2,000 meals per day were served. The Summer Lunch Program provides nutritional help to children who would otherwise be deprived of food assistance received at other times of the year under the National School Lunch Program. Eight (8) summer lunch monitors are needed. The monitors will be assigned to routes in various geographical areas in order that they may effect daily program checks at Summer Lunch sites. Salaries for the monitors will be at no cost to the City as it is reimbursed from administrative cost of the Summer Lunch Program. 75-0264
