Walter and Helen Pittman submitted a request to permit their property
located at 440 West 40th Street to be connected to the City's sewer
system. The owners want to develop 2-four plexes on the rear portion
of their property. The property is located adjacent to, but outside
the existing corporate limits of the City of San Bernardino.
The Board of Water Commissioners voted in 1980 to impose a ban on
connections outside the corporate limits of the City where we are
not required by contract to serve, due to the limited capacity and
reliability of the existing treatment plant facilities. The Board
felt that remaining capacity should be reserved for those areas we
are required to serve and that the ban could be rescinded once the
solids handling and other improvements were completed to improve
treatment reliability.
At their regularly scheduled meeting held on February 5, 1985, the
Board of Water Commissioners unanimously voted to deny the request
to connect property located at 440 West 40th Street, and authorized
the Secretary to forward the request of the property owner to the
Mayor and Common Council for their consideration.

We would like to request permission for sewer connection
at the above mentioned propertv. Attached vou will find nec-
essarv information regarding lot size and zoning.
Our plans are for 2-four plexes on the rear R-3 zoned
portion. A three bedroom two baths home is located on the
front C-2 zoned portion at the present time and is serviced
by septic tanks.
~he builder we will use is available to submit th~ planned
construction plans to vou upon request. Thank you for vour
