ANIMAL SERVICES
MEMORANDUM
TO: Animal Control Commissioners
FROM: Kris Watson, Animal Services Director
SUBJECT: Update to Commission on Animal Services
DATE: September 14, 2022
Staffing
We held interviews for the Animal Services Representatives last week and will be sending offers to two
of the candidates. The Canvasser (Animal License Inspector) interviews are scheduled for next week
and the RVT position interviews will be held at the end of the month. We are waiting for HR to send us
the candidates from the Veterinarian position.
Facility Update
Public Works will be installing a concrete pad at the shelter to house our mobile veterinary unit. They
will also be installing a concrete pad in the current barnyard area where we hope to expand the number
of dog kennels at the facility. The barnyard will be moved and new pipe corrals installed to house any
livestock or chickens.
Festival
The City is having a celebration of cultures on October 8, 2022. There will be an Animal Village with a
petting zoo, raptor show and reptile booth. We are working on securing additional non -profits to have
educational booths and resources available to residents. We do need volunteers to work the event,
please let Wanda or Kris know if you are interested in helping out!
