request to be read.
Thank you, Mayor and Council members, for your service to our city. I hope everyone had a happy 4th of
July in celebrating our nation's independence, where all of us get the opportunity to pursuit life, liberty,
happiness in a democracy of free and fair elections by its citizens.
I want to commend Chief Darren Goodman and the entire police department for these good headlines
of police raids of getting illegal fireworks and guns off of our streets. People who have in their
possession non-registered firearms do not have them for personal protection, hunting or being a
collector should not be able to keep them. Therefore, I commend the police department for their efforts
to keep our streets safe.
On another issue in the police department. I knew there was a racial motivate in part of the decision
with the appointment of five white officers to implement the new “Community Policing Program” back
in May of 2019. That is why I started speaking out, that no Black person had ever occupied the position
of Police Chief and only one had reached the position of Captain. The San Bernardino Police Officers
Association wrote in their letter for a new Chief, they wanted Eric McBride because he understood the
department culture. Now we have two white police officers who was part of the Command leadership
filing a lawsuit against the city for alleged speaking out against racist and unethical practices, which is
engrained in its culture.
I have already submitted my letter in opposition to the Burrtec Waste Rate increase, so you know my
position on that issue.
I reviewed the American Rescue Plan Update and was not able to determine the total amount spent or
how much is left to be spent.
Thank you, Hardy Brown, Ward 6 Resident.
