Good afternoon,
I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to seek your help and support regarding the
recent denial of our organization's request for a crosswalk at 1095 N "D" ST, San Bernardino,
CA 92410. As an organization that owns several residential homes as part of our program, our
staff members and clients frequently need to walk back and forth between buildings, putting
them at risk of accidents due to the lack of a safe crossing point. We are deeply concerned
about the potential consequences of this denial and are urgently seeking a resolution to avoid
any unfortunate incidents.
Our staff plays a critical role in providing care and support to the residents in our program.
They often need to traverse the road between our residential homes, and the lack of a
designated crosswalk poses a significant safety hazard. While there is a streetlight a few feet
away, the majority of our staff cross at the intersection of 11th and D Street due to the
proximity of the residential homes, which necessitates a safer and more convenient crossing
point.
In our initial request for a crosswalk, we provided an explanation of the dangers faced by our
staff members while crossing the road. We emphasized the importance of their safety and
highlighted the potential for accidents or near misses. We believe that having a designated
crosswalk would not only mitigate these risks but also enhance the overall safety of our
organization's operations.
We were disheartened to receive the denial notice, which cited the presence of a streetlight in
the vicinity as a reason for the rejection. While we acknowledge the existing infrastructure, it
is crucial to note that our staff's regular crossing point is far from the streetlight due to the
location of our administration building and residential homes. This situation necessitates the
installation of a crosswalk at the intersection of 11th and D Street, where our staff members
can safely and efficiently cross the road along with several community members that also use
this junction as a crossing area.
Considering the welfare and safety of our staff, as well as the potential consequences of an
accident, I kindly request your intervention and assistance in reviewing the denied request. We
implore you to reconsider the decision and work towards finding a practical and effective
resolution. Installing a crosswalk at the intersection we specified would not only alleviate the
risks faced by our staff but also contribute to the overall well-being of the community.
I would greatly appreciate any support or guidance you can provide in navigating this issue. If
necessary, I am more than willing to meet in person or participate in a discussion to further
explain our concerns and explore possible solutions. We hope to find a resolution as soon as
possible to prevent any potential accidents or injuries.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response and
collaboration in ensuring the safety and well-being of our staff and community.
Sincerely,
--
